Martin G. Sanda, M.D. has joined BIDMC to Direct the Prostate Cancer Care Center together with co-Directors Dr. Glen Bubley (Director of Genito-Urinary Oncology) and Dr. Irving Kaplan (Radiation Oncology). A nationally-recognized prostate cancer surgeon, Dr. Sanda has performed over 500 radical prostatectomies using either traditional (open-retropubic) nerve-sparing or laparoscopic techniques, and outcomes of his patients have been published in leading medical journals.  He has spearheaded several nationwide NCI-funded clinical studies evaluating quality of life and cancer control after prostate cancer surgery, radiation, or brachytherapy. He has published over 60 articles and was named to the registry of the Best Doctors in America 2003-2004.
Prior to joining BIDMC as Director of the Prostate Cancer Care Center, Dr. Sanda was Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Urology at the University of Michigan, and previously completed his urology residency under Dr. Patrick Walsh at Johns Hopkins, after completing his M.D. at Columbia and his BA at Yale.
