New Therapy for H1N1 Flu Complications

The week, Dr. Harish Seethamraju and Dr. Matthias Loebe, will be joining Dr. Galati to discuss new therapies to treat the most serious cases of H1N1 Swine Flu epidemic we are all now facing.

The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, also known as ECMO, is a procedure that attempts to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood in these critical patients when the lungs are unable to do so, due to the extreme degree of damage and inflammation. Dr. Seethamraju is the Medical Director of the Lung Translant Program at The Methodist Hospital, and Dr. Loebe is the Surgical Diector of the Lung Transplant Program at The Methodist Hospital, in Houston, Texas.
