An overwhelming majority of adults feel it will lead to higher health-care costs for all Americans.
In a recent survey, 83% say parents not paying attention, rather than marketing by the food industry, is primarily responsible for children''s weight problems.
Most American adults also believe schools need to do a better job of limiting children''s access to unhealthy foods and a smaller majority feel the government should take legal action against companies that mislead parents and children about the nutritional value of the foods they market.
Still, 68% say advertising to kids is a major contributor to rising obesity in children. And 55% of Americans believe the government should be doing more to regulate the types of marketing and advertising that the food industry directs toward children.
